2532 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya b. 'Abd Allah b. Bukayr reported to us, 'Abd Allah b. Lahi'ah narrated to me, from 'Ata' b. Dinar, from Sa'id b. Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: "And He gave him"—meaning: And Allah bestowed upon him.
His saying: "The kingdom and the wisdom, and He taught him of what He wills"

2533 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr b. Hammad reported to us, Asbat reported to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "And Allah gave him the kingdom and the wisdom"—he said: The wisdom is prophethood; Allah gave him the prophethood of Sham'un (Samuel).
2534 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad b. 'Abd al-Rahman reported to us, 'Abd Allah b. Abi Ja'far reported to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' b. Anas, regarding His saying: "And Allah gave him the kingdom and the wisdom, and He taught him of what He wills"—so he became the leader over them and they gave him obedience.

2535 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Asbat b. Muhammad reported to us, from al-Hudhali, from al-Hasan, regarding the saying of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: "The wisdom"—he said: The Sunnah.

2536 - 'Ali b. al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu Hisham reported to us, Ibn Wahb reported to us, Ibn Zayd b. Aslam narrated to me, from his father, who said: Wisdom is understanding (al-'aql) in the religion.
His saying: "And were it not for Allah repelling people, some by others"

2537 - My father narrated to us, Abu Ma'mar Isma'il b. Ibrahim b. Ma'mar b. al-Hasan al-Hudhali reported to us, Abu 'Ubaydah al-Haddad reported to us, Rashid b. Wardan, the Imam of the mosque of Ibn Abi 'Arubah, reported to us, from 'Amr b. Malik al-Nukri, from Abu al-Jawza', from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "And were it not for Allah repelling people, some by others"—he said: Allah repels [punishment] from those who do not pray through those who do pray, and from those who do not perform Hajj through those who do perform Hajj, and from those who do not pay Zakat through those who do pay Zakat.
And the second interpretation:
2538 - My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah reported to us, Shibl reported to us, from 'Abd Allah b. Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And were it not for Allah repelling people, some by others, the earth would have been corrupted"—he says: Were it not for Allah's defense of the righteous from the wicked, and the driving of people against one another.

وَأَعْطَاهُ اللَّهُ.

٢٥٣٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ فِي قَوْلُهُ: وَآتَاهُ اللَّهُ الْمُلْكَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَعَلَّمَهُ مِمَّا يَشَاءُ فَصَارَ هُوَ الرَّئِيسُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَعْطَوهُ الطَّاعَةَ.

٢٥٣٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مَعْمَرِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْهُذَلِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ الْحَدَّادُ، ثنا رَاشِدُ بْنُ وَرْدَانَ إِمَامُ مَسْجِدِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَالِكٍ النُّكْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْجَوْزَاءِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَلَوْلا دَفْعُ اللَّهِ النَّاسَ بَعْضَهُمْ بِبَعْضٍ قَالَ: يَدْفَعُ اللَّهُ بِمَنْ يُصَلِّي عَمَّنْ لَا يُصَلِّي، وَبِمَنْ يَحُجُّ، عَمَّنْ لَا يَحُجُّ وَبِمَنْ يُزَكِّي عَمَّنْ لَا يُزَكِّي.

٢٥٣٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ، ثنا شِبْلٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَوْلُهُ: وَلَوْلا دَفْعُ اللَّهِ النَّاسَ بَعْضَهُمْ بِبَعْضٍ لَفَسَدَتِ يَقُولُ: لَوْلا دِفَاعُ اللَّهِ الْبَرَّ عَنِ الْفَاجِرِ، وبقة أَخْلافَ النَّاسِ بَعْضُهُمْ بِبَعْضٍ.
