The Second Aspect:

3630 - Al-Hasan b. Ahmad narrated to us, Musa b. Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abbad b. Mansur narrated to us, he said: I asked al-Hasan about His saying: "O People of the Scripture, come to a word." He said: He called them to Islam, but they refused.

The Third Aspect:

3631 - Muhammad b. Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad b. Ishaq said regarding "come to a word": He called them to equity and cut off their argument.

His saying, the Exalted: "Equitable between us and you, that we will not worship except Allah and not associate anything with Him."

3632 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad b. 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, 'Abd Allah b. Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' regarding His saying: "Say, O People of the Scripture, come to a word that is equitable between us and you," he says: Just between us and you.

His saying, the Exalted: "And that we will not take one another as lords instead of Allah."

3633 - Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad b. Hammad al-Tahrani narrated to me, Hafs b. 'Umar al-'Adani informed us, al-Hakam b. Aban narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah regarding His saying: "lords," meaning the idols.

3634 - 'Ali b. al-Mubarak informed us in what he wrote to me, Zayd b. al-Mubarak narrated to us, Ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj regarding His saying: "lords instead of Allah," he said: It is said that lordship (rububiyyah) is for people to obey their masters and leaders in matters other than worship.

3635 - Muhammad b. Hammad al-Tahrani narrated to us, Hafs b. 'Umar al-'Adani narrated to us, al-Hakam b. Aban narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah regarding His saying: "And that we will not take one another as lords instead of Allah," he said: The prostration of some of them to others.

His saying, the Exalted: "But if they turn away, then say: Bear witness."

The verse and its interpretation have already preceded (1).
