His saying, the Exalted: "If Allah helps you, there is no one who can overcome you."
4425 - And by the same chain, Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "If Allah helps you, there is no one who can overcome you," meaning: If Allah helps you, no one among the people can overcome you; the desertion of those who deserted you will not harm you.
His saying, the Exalted: "And if He abandons you, then who is it that can help you after Him?"
4426 - And by the same chain, Ibn Ishaq said: Meaning, lest you abandon My command for the sake of the people, and I reject the people for My command.
His saying, the Exalted: "And upon Allah let the believers rely."
4427 - And by the same chain, Ibn Ishaq said: "And upon Allah," meaning: not upon the people, "let the believers rely."
His saying, the Exalted: "It is not for a prophet to misappropriate."
[The First Aspect]
4428 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl ibn Musa, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "It is not for a prophet to misappropriate," he says: It is not appropriate for a prophet to misappropriate.
4429 - My father narrated to us, al-Musayyab ibn Wadih narrated to us, Abu Ishaq al-Fazari narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Khusayf, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace): the same as that. And before it, he said: There was a velvet cloth that went missing on the day of Badr, so they said: Perhaps the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) took it. So Allah, the Exalted, revealed: "It is not for a prophet to misappropriate," meaning: to act treacherously.
4430 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "It is not for a prophet to misappropriate," meaning: to act treacherously. It was narrated from al-Hasan the same.
4431 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle al-Husayn narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "It is not for a prophet to misappropriate," he says: It is not for a prophet to divide [spoils] for one group of Muslims and leave another group, and be unjust in the division; rather, he divides with justice and takes in it according to the command of Allah, and he judges in it by what Allah has revealed. Allah, the Exalted, says: "It is not for Allah to make a prophet misappropriate in it by what Allah has revealed." Allah, the Exalted, says: It was not for Allah to make a prophet misappropriate from his companions, for if the prophet were to do that, they would follow his example. It was narrated from al-Dahhak the same.
