الترجمة · EN

the revelation ceased, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Receive [this] from me, receive [this]! Allah has ordained a way: the unmarried for the unmarried is a hundred lashes and banishment for a year, and the married for the married is a hundred lashes and stoning with stones."

4982 - Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabah narrated to us, Hajjaj narrated to us, from Ibn Jurayj, and Uthman ibn 'Ata, from 'Ata, from Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "Or Allah ordains for them a way," the way that Allah ordained for them is flogging and stoning.

4983 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn Abdullah narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "Or Allah ordains for them a way," meaning: a way out of the detention, and the way out is the prescribed punishment (hadd).

His saying, the Exalted: "And the two who commit it among you"

4984 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "And the two who commit it among you," he said: The two adulterers.

4985 - Ahmad ibn Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, who said: Then He mentioned the young men and women who have not been married, and said: "And the two who commit it among you."

His saying, the Exalted: "Commit it"

4986 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn Abdullah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr: And he mentioned the two unmarried individuals who have not been chaste, and said: "And the two who commit it," meaning: the immorality, which is adultery.

His saying, the Exalted: "Among you"

4987 - And through the same chain, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "And the two who commit it among you," meaning: from the Muslims.

His saying, the Exalted: "Then punish them both"

4988 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "And the two who commit it among you, then punish them both," for a man, if he committed adultery, he would be punished by being shamed and struck with sandals. Then Allah, the Exalted, later revealed the verse: "The woman and the man guilty of illegal sexual intercourse, flog each of them with a hundred stripes," and if they were married, they would be stoned according to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).
