5103 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi narrated to us, Yazid narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "Forgiving," he said: "For many or major sins."
His saying, the Almighty: "Merciful."
5104 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "Merciful," he said: "To His servants."
His saying, the Almighty: "And [also prohibited are] all married women [al-muhsanat min al-nisa']."

5105 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, al-Walid ibn 'Utbah narrated to us, Baqiyyah narrated to us, Mubashshir ibn 'Ubayd narrated to me, al-Hajjaj narrated to me, from al-Zuhri, from Ibn al-Musayyib, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Ihsan (chastity/sanctity) is of two types: the ihsan of marriage and the ihsan of moral purity."
5106 - al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, Mutarrif narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from 'Umayr ibn Maryam, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "And all married women [al-muhsanat min al-nisa'] except what your right hands possess," he said: "She is lawful for the man, except those [captured women] taken in marriage from what your right hands possess, for she is not lawful for him."
5107 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salamah narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from 'Atiyyah ibn Sa'd, that Ibn 'Abbas said: "And all married women [al-muhsanat min al-nisa']" means: "Women who have husbands." It has been narrated from Ibn Mas'ud, Anas ibn Malik, Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, al-Hasan, Muhammad ibn 'Ali, Mujahid, al-Dahhak, Makhul, Sa'id ibn Jubayr, al-Sha'bi, and Muhammad ibn 'Ali something similar.
5108 - My father narrated to us, Yusuf al-Saghar narrated to us, Abu Usamah narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah informed me, from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, that he did not consider a polytheist woman as muhsanah (married/chaste), meaning: the Jewish and Christian women.
5109 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my paternal uncle narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "And all married women [al-muhsanat min al-nisa']" meaning by that: "The wives among women, whose marriage is not rendered permissible [for others]. He says: 'Do not trick them and do not deceive them so that she would act rebelliously toward her husband.' And every woman who is not married except with clear evidence and a dowry is among the muhsanat (married women) whom He has forbidden."
