The second interpretation:

5142 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "to marry the free, believing women," he said: As for the "muhsanat" (in this context), they are the chaste ones.

5143 - My father narrated to us, Ibn Nufayl narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Khusayf, he said: 'Abd al-Hamid ibn 'Abd al-Rahman wrote to al-Sha'bi, asking him about marrying a slave girl. He replied: If a man finds the capacity for a free woman, then marrying a slave girl while he is in that state is like [eating] carrion, blood, and swine flesh.

His saying, the Almighty: "and from those your right hands possess"

5144 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "and from those your right hands possess," they were [permitted] in the lawfulness of all slave girls that their right hands possessed. Then Allah, the Exalted, revealed after this the prohibition of marrying a woman and her mother, and marrying what the fathers and sons had married, and to combine two sisters, the sister through nursing, the mother through nursing, and a woman who has a husband. Allah prohibited all of that, whether she is free or a slave.

His saying, the Almighty: "from your believing girls"

5145 - And through the same chain from Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "from your believing girls," he said: Let him marry from the slave girls of the believers. Similar to this was narrated from al-Suddi and Muqatil ibn Hayyan.

5146 - Muhammad ibn Isma'il al-Ahmasi narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from Layth, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "from your believing girls," he said: It is not appropriate for a free Muslim man to marry a slave girl from the People of the Book. Similar to this was narrated from al-Hasan, Makhul, and Qatadah.

His saying, the Almighty: "And Allah is most knowing of your faith"

5147 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim reported, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, he then said in the sequence: "And Allah is most knowing of your faith."

His saying, the Almighty: "You are one from another"

5148 - And through the same chain from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying: "You are one from another," he says: You are one from another.
