مجلد 3 · صفحة 241قوله تعالى: واهجروهن في المضاجع

الترجمة · EN

5269 - My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, Shibl narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding: "Then admonish them," he said: If the woman is disobedient to her husband's bed, he says to her: "Fear Allah and return to your bed," and this is the admonition.

His saying the Exalted: "And abandon them in their beds"

[The first interpretation]

5270 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "And abandon them in their beds," and the abandonment is: That he does not have intercourse with her in her bed, and he turns his back to her. If she complies, otherwise Allah has permitted you to strike her with a non-injurious strike.

Something similar was narrated from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, that he said: He turns his back to her.

And the second interpretation:

5271 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn mentioned it, Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Mu'awiyah narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us, from Simak, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "And abandon them in their beds," he said: No, he said: Do not lie with her in your bed.

It was narrated from 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, al-Sha'bi, al-Hasan, Mujahid, Miqsam, Ibrahim, Muhammad ibn Ka'b, and Qatadah: That they said: She is abandoned in bed.

And the third interpretation:

5272 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, al-Thawri reported from Khusayf, from 'Ikrimah who said: The abandonment is merely by speech, that he speaks harshly to her, and it is not by avoiding intercourse. Something similar was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas in one of the narrations, and from Abu al-Duha.

His saying the Exalted: "And strike them"

5273 - My father narrated to us, Dawud ibn 'Abd Allah al-Ja'fari, 'Isa ibn Marhum, Ibn Nufayl, and Harun ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, and the wording is Dawud's, they said: Hatim narrated to us, from Ja'far ibn Muhammad, from his father, from Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah, from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) who said: "Fear Allah concerning women, for you have taken them under the trust of Allah, and have made their private parts lawful to you by the word of Allah. And you have a right over them that they do not allow anyone whom you dislike to tread upon your beds. If they do that, then strike them with a non-injurious strike."
