5300 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Musa narrated to us, Ibn Abi Za'idah reported, saying: Ibn Jurayj said, from Sulaym—who is Abu 'Ubayd Allah—that he heard Mujahid saying regarding "the neighbor who is a stranger": He is your companion in travel, during your night stay, and his hand is with your hand.

5301 - It was mentioned from 'Ubayd Allah ibn Musa, from Shayban, from Abu Ishaq, from Nawf, who said regarding "the neighbor who is a stranger": The Jew and the Christian.
His saying the Exalted: "And the companion by your side"

5302 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Isra'il, from Jabir, from 'Amir, from 'Ali and 'Abd Allah regarding His saying: "And the companion by your side," they both said: It is the wife. 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, al-Hasan, and Sa'id ibn Jubayr (in one of the narrations) narrated similarly.

5303 - My father narrated to me, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And the companion by your side," he said: The companion (al-rafiq).
5304 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, 'Uqbah narrated to us, from Isra'il, from Jabir, from Mujahid and 'Ikrimah regarding His saying: "And the companion by your side," he said: He is the companion in travel. It was narrated from Qatadah similarly.
5305 - My father narrated to me, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, Shibl narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding "And the companion by your side": The companion in travel; his dwelling is your dwelling, his food is your food, and his journey is your journey.
5306 - My father narrated to me, Ibrahim ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Hatim ibn Abi 'Ajlan narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Aslam, regarding His saying: "And the companion by your side," he said: He is your sitter in residence and your companion in travel.
5307 - My father narrated to me, Abu Nu'aym narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Abu Bukayr—meaning Marzuq—from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding: "And the companion by your side," he said: The righteous companion.
