5340 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abdullah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Atiyyah ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr [regarding]: "a great reward," meaning: an abundant recompense in Paradise.
His saying, the Exalted: "So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness?"
5341 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Harithi narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak regarding: "So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness?" He said: Each nation with its Prophet.
5342 - Ahmad ibn 'Amr ibn Abi 'Asim narrated to us, my father narrated to me, my father Abu 'Asim narrated to me, al-Dahhak ibn Makhlad narrated to us, Shabib narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas who said: The witness is the Prophet of Allah. Allah, the Exalted, said: "So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness, and We bring you, [O Muhammad], against these as a witness?"
His saying, the Exalted: "and We bring you, [O Muhammad], against these as a witness"
5343 - Abu Sa'id ibn Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan and Musa ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Masruqi narrated to us, [both] said: Husayn al-Ju'fi narrated to us, from Za'idah, from 'Asim, from Zirr, who said: 'Abdullah said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said to me: "Recite [the Quran]." I began [the chapter of] al-Nisa' until I reached the saying of Allah, the Exalted: "So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness, and We bring you, [O Muhammad], against these as a witness?" He said: Then his eyes shed tears and he said: "It is sufficient for us." The wording is that of Abu Sa'id.
5344 - Abu Bakr ibn Abi al-Dunya narrated to us, al-Salt ibn Mas'ud al-Jahdi narrated to us, Fudayl ibn Sulayman narrated to us, Yunus ibn Muhammad ibn Fadalah al-Ansari narrated to us, from his father, who said: My father was one of those who accompanied the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). He came to him in [the territory of] Banu Zafar and sat upon the rock that is in Banu Zafar today. Ibn Mas'ud, Mu'adh ibn Jabal, and a group of his companions were with him. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) ordered a reciter to recite, so he came to this verse: "So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness, and We bring you, [O Muhammad], against these as a witness?" The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) wept until he struck his cheeks and his sides, then said: "O Lord, this [is my testimony] upon those who were among me; but how [will it be] for those I did not see?"
