His saying, the Exalted: "And you find no water"

5369 - Al-Mundhir ibn Shadhan narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Musa narrated to us, Ibn Abi Layla informed us, from al-Minhal, from Zirr ibn Hubaysh, from 'Ali, regarding his saying: "And you find no water," he said: If one is in a state of janaba and finds no water, he performs tayammum and prays until he finds water.

His saying, the Exalted: "Perform tayammum with a pure surface"

5370 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj and Harun ibn Ishaq narrated to us, both said: 'Abdah narrated to us, from Hisham ibn 'Urwah, from his father, from 'A'ishah, who said: A necklace of Asma' was lost, so the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent someone to search for it. Prayer time arrived while they were not in a state of wudu', and they did not find water, so they prayed without wudu'. They mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and Allah revealed [the verse regarding] tayammum. The wording is that of Harun.

5371 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Sharik, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik, from Ibn 'Abbas: "Perform tayammum with a pure surface (sa'id tayyib)," he said: If an ill person fears for himself, he performs tayammum.

5372 - Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn Salamah al-Nahwi al-Razi narrated to us, Habban ibn Musa narrated to us, 'Abd Allah—meaning Ibn al-Mubarak—informed us, he said: I heard Sufyan saying: "Perform tayammum with a pure surface," he said: Seek [a place to] perform tayammum with a pure surface.

5373 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj and Harun ibn Ishaq narrated to us, 'Abdah narrated to us, from Hisham ibn 'Urwah, from Zirr ibn Hubaysh, from 'Ali, regarding his saying: "And you find no water," he said: If one is in a state of janaba and finds no water, he performs tayammum and prays until he finds water.

His saying, the Exalted: "A surface (sa'id)"

5374 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Ibn Idris narrated to us, Qabus ibn Abi Zabyan narrated to us, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: The purest of the sa'id is arable land.

5375 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu Ja'far al-Jammal narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, from Mughirah, from Hammad, who said: Everything upon which you place your hand is sa'id, even the dust on your hand, so perform tayammum with it.
