5477 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: 'The Wisdom,' he means: 'Prophethood.'

5478 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu Hammam narrated to us, Ibn Wahb narrated to us, Zayd ibn Aslam narrated to me, from his father, who said: 'The Wisdom is understanding in religion.'

His saying, the Exalted: 'And We have given them a great kingdom.'

5479 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my paternal uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: 'A great kingdom,' he means: 'The kingdom of Solomon.'

It was narrated from 'Atiyyah similar to that.

5480 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: 'And We have given them a great kingdom,' he said: 'In the [Surah of] al-Nisa', so what is the matter that it was permitted for those prophets that David could marry ninety-nine women and Solomon could marry one hundred women, and it is not permissible for Muhammad to marry as they married?'

5481 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, Shurayh ibn Maslamah narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Yusuf narrated to us, from his father, from Abu Ishaq, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid, from Abu Muslim, regarding His saying: 'And We have given them a great kingdom,' he said: 'They were aided by the angels.' Abu Muhammad said: 'The narrations from Abu Ishaq differ, for Ash'ath ibn Sawwar narrated from Abu Ishaq, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid his saying, and it was narrated from Isra'il, from Abu Ishaq, from Hammam ibn al-Harith this interpretation.'

5482 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Abu Usamah narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from al-Hasan, regarding 'And We have given them a great kingdom,' he said: 'Prophethood.' It was narrated from Mujahid and al-Thawri similar to that.
