[The second interpretation]
5620 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding his saying: "Have you not seen those who were told, 'Restrain your hands'" he said: They are a people who embraced Islam before fighting was ordained upon them.
His saying, the Exalted: "and establish prayer"
5621 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Mubarak ibn Fadalah narrated to us, from al-Hasan regarding his saying: "establish prayer" he said: A mandatory obligation; deeds are of no benefit except through it and through zakah (almsgiving).
5622 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Namir narrated to us, he said: I asked al-Zuhri about His saying: "and establish prayer" al-Zuhri said: Establishing it is to perform the five prayers at their appointed times.
It has been narrated from 'Ata' ibn Abi Rabah and Qatadah similar to the statement of al-Hasan.
5623 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim informed us, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying to the People of the Scripture: "and establish prayer" He commanded them to pray with the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).

5624 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "and give zakah" he means by zakah, obedience to Allah and sincerity.
[The second interpretation]
5625 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu Bakr and 'Uthman the two sons of Abi Shaybah narrated to us, they said: Waki' narrated to us, from Abu Janab, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "and give zakah" he said: What requires zakah? He said: Two hundred [dirhams] or more.
5626 - Abu 'Abd Allah al-Tihrani narrated to me, Hafs ibn 'Umar al-'Adani informed us, al-Hakam ibn Aban narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah: "and give zakah" he said: The zakah of wealth, from every two hundred dirhams, five dirhams.
