The Third Interpretation:
5721 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "Muqitan," he said: A Witness (Shahidan).
The Fourth Interpretation:
5722 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "And Allah is ever a Witness (Muqitan) over all things," he says: Powerful (Qadiran). And it is narrated from al-Suddi that he said: Powerful (Qadiran).
The Fifth Interpretation:
5723 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, Mihran narrated to us, from Abu al-Azhar, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, he said: The Muqit is: The Provider (al-Raziq).
The Sixth Interpretation:
5724 - My father narrated to us, 'Ali ibn al-Ja'd narrated to us, Sharik informed us, from Khusayf, from Mujahid: "And Allah is ever a Witness (Muqitan) over all things," he said: An Accountant (Hasiban).
His saying, the Exalted: "And when you are greeted with a greeting."
5725 - 'Ali ibn Harb al-Mawsili narrated to us, Humayd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Ru'asi narrated to us, from Hasan ibn Salih, from Simak, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And when you are greeted with a greeting," he said: Whoever from the creation of Allah greets you. And it is narrated from al-Hasan similarly.
His saying, the Exalted: "Then greet with one better than it."
[5726] It was mentioned from Ahmad ibn al-Hasan al-Tirmidhi, 'Abd Allah ibn al-Sari Abu Muhammad al-Antaki narrated to us—Abu al-Hasan said, and he was a righteous man—Hisham ibn Lahiq narrated to us, from 'Asim, from Abu 'Uthman, from Salman, he said: A man came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah." He replied: "And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah." Then another man came to him and said: "Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah, and the mercy of Allah." وَرُوِيَ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: قَدِيراً.

٥٧٢٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ، أَنْبَأَ شَرِيكٌ، عَنْ خُصَيْفٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ:
وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مُقِيتاً قَالَ: حَسِيباً.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَإِذَا حُيِّيتُمْ بِتَحِيَّةٍ
٥٧٢٥ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَرْبٍ الْمَوْصِلِيُّ، ثنا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرُّؤَاسِيُّ عَنْ حَسَنِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلَهُ: وَإِذَا حُيِّيتُمْ بِتَحِيَّةٍ قَالَ: مَنْ سَلَّمَ عَلَيْكَ مِنْ خَلْقِ اللَّهِ. وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَحَيُّوا بِأَحْسَنَ مِنْهَا

ذُكِرَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ التِّرْمِذِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ السَّرِيِّ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الأَنْطَاكِيُّ- قَالَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ وَكَانَ رَجُلا صَالِحاً- ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ لاحِقٍ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ سَلْمَانَ قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ:
السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، فَقَالَ: وَعَلَيْكَ السَّلامُ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ، ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ آخَرُ فَقَالَ:
السَّلامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ: وَعَلَيْكَ السَّلامُ ورحمة الله وبركاته، ثم
