Sufyan, from Jabir, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Aswad, from his father, from Ibn Mas'ud regarding His saying: "A community standing [in obedience], they recite the verses of Allah during the watches of the night," he said: It is the prayer of the time of heedlessness.

4012 - Ahmad ibn Mansur al-Ramadi narrated to us, Yazid ibn Abi Hakim narrated to us, he said: I asked Sufyan—meaning al-Thawri—about the saying of Allah, the Almighty and Exalted: "They are not all the same; among the People of the Scripture is a community standing [in obedience], they recite the verses of Allah during the watches of the night while they prostrate," so he narrated to me from Mansur, he said: It reached me that they used to pray between Maghrib and 'Isha'.

And the third interpretation:

4013 - Al-Husayn ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Musa ibn Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn Mansur narrated to us, he said: I asked al-Hasan about His saying: "During the watches of the night," he said: Hours from its beginning and its end.

It was narrated from al-Rabi' ibn Anas and Qatadah: They said: The hours of the night.

His saying, the Exalted: "While they prostrate."

4014 - My father narrated to us, Musa ibn Mas'ud narrated to us, Shibl informed us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from al-Hasan ibn Abi Yazid al-'Ajli, from Ibn Mas'ud: "They recite the verses of Allah during the watches of the night while they prostrate," the 'Atamah (night) prayer, they perform it.

His saying, the Exalted: "They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong."

Its interpretation has already preceded.

4015 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "They believe in Allah," he said: They attest to the oneness of Allah and the Last Day, and they attest to the unseen in which there is the recompense for deeds.

His saying, the Exalted: "And they hasten in [all] good deeds, and those are among the righteous."

4016 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Shayban narrated to us, Abu al-Ashhab narrated to us, al-Hasan narrated to us:
