4113 - Al-Ahmasi narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Hisham—meaning Ibn 'Urwah—from Yahya ibn 'Abbad, that al-Zubayr was wearing a yellow turban on the day of Badr, having wrapped it around his head, and so the angels descended wearing yellow turbans.
The Third Interpretation:
4114 - My father narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Shurahbil narrated to us, Abu Farwah—meaning Hatim ibn Shufayy al-Hamdani—narrated to us, who said: Makhul said regarding: "your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand of the angels marked [for battle] (musawwimin)," he said: It is the turbans.
The Fourth Interpretation:
4115 - 'Ubayd Allah ibn Isma'il al-Baghdadi narrated to us, Khalaf ibn Hisham narrated to us, al-Khaffaf narrated to us, from Ibn al-'Attar, from Qatadah regarding: "marked [for battle] (musawwimin)," he said: They were marked for battle. It was narrated from 'Ikrimah similarly.
His saying, the Exalted: "And Allah did not make it but as a glad tiding for you"
4116 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding his saying: "And Allah did not make it but as a glad tiding," he said: Allah only created them so that they might rejoice because of them.
His saying, the Exalted: "And so that your hearts might be at rest by it"
4117 - And through the same chain from Mujahid regarding his saying: "And so that your hearts might be at rest [by it] (li-tatma'inna qulubukum)," he said: That you may find rest in them.
His saying, the Exalted: "And there is no victory except from Allah"
4118 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, who said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "And there is no victory except from Allah," he said: The matter in my view is that it is only by My authority and My power, and that is because pride and judgment belong to Me, not to any of My creation.
His saying, the Exalted: "That He might cut off a part of those who disbelieved"
4119 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Musa ibn Muhkam narrated to us, Abu Bakr al-Hanafi narrated to us, 'Abbad ibn Mansur narrated to us, from al-Hasan regarding his saying: "That He might cut off a part of those who disbelieved," he said: This was the day of Badr, so Allah cut off a group of them and kept a group firm.
