[5948] Hashim ibn al-Qasim al-Harrani informed us in what he wrote to me, Muhammad ibn Salamah narrated to us from Muhammad ibn Ishaq from 'Asim ibn 'Umar ibn Qatadah, from his father, from his grandfather, Qatadah ibn al-Nu'man, who said: We did not wait long before it was revealed: "...then seeks forgiveness of Allah, will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful," meaning: if they had sought Allah's forgiveness, He would have forgiven them.
His saying, the Almighty: "And whoever earns a sin, he earns it only against himself. And ever is Allah Knowing and Wise."
[5949] Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, who said: Then he mentioned His saying when he said: Abu Mulayl took it and said: "And whoever earns a sin, he earns it only against himself. And ever is Allah Knowing and Wise."
His saying, the Almighty: "And whoever earns a fault or a sin."
[5950] Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my paternal uncle narrated to me, my father narrated to me, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And whoever earns a fault or a sin," meaning: the thief and those who argued on behalf of the thief.
His saying, the Almighty: "Then blames it on an innocent [person]."
[5951] Hashim ibn al-Qasim al-Harrani informed us in what he wrote to me, Muhammad ibn Salamah narrated to us from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from 'Asim ibn 'Umar ibn Qatadah al-Ansari, from his father, from his grandfather, Qatadah ibn al-Nu'man regarding the story of the Banu Ubayriq, for Allah the Almighty revealed: "And whoever earns a fault or a sin, then blames it on an innocent [person]," meaning their saying regarding Labid ibn Sahl.
[5952] My father narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Marzuq narrated to us, Shu'bah reported from Khalid al-Hadhdha' from Ibn Sirin: "then blames it on an innocent [person]"—he said: A Jew.

٥٩٤٨ - أَخْبَرَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ الْحَرَّانِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَتَادَةَ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ قَالَ: فَلَمْ نَلْبَثْ أَنْ نَزَلَتْ ثُمَّ يَسْتَغْفِرِ اللَّهَ يَجِدِ اللَّهَ غَفُورًا رَحِيمًا
أَيْ لَوِ اسْتَغْفَرُوا اللَّهَ لَغَفَرَ لَهُمْ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَنْ يَكْسِبْ إِثْمًا فَإِنَّمَا يَكْسِبُهُ عَلَى نفسه وكان الله عليما حكيماً.
٥٩٤٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ الأَوْدِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُفَضَّلٍ، ثنا أَسْبَاطٌ، عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ، قَالَ: ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ قَوْلَهُ حِينَ قَالَ: أَخَذَهَا أَبُو مُلَيْلٍ فَقَالَ: وَمَنْ يَكْسِبْ إِثْمًا فَإِنَّمَا يَكْسِبُهُ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَمَنْ يَكْسِبْ خَطِيئَةً أَوْ إِثْمًا.
٥٩٥٠ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْعَوْفِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي حَدَّثَنِي عَمِّي، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَمَنْ يَكْسِبْ خَطِيئَةً أَوْ إِثْمًا
يَعْنِي: السَّارِقَ وَالَّذِينَ جَادَلُوا عَنِ السَّارِقِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: ثُمَّ يَرْمِ بِهِ بَرِيئًا.

قَوْلُهُمْ: لِلَبِيدِ بْنِ سَهْلٍ.
٥٩٥٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، أَنْبَأَ شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ: ثُمَّ يَرْمِ بِهِ بَرِيئًا
قَالَ: يَهُودِيًّا «١» .
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَقَدِ احْتَمَلَ بُهْتَانًا.
٥٩٥٣ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ، ثنا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي فُضَيْلُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيِّ أَنَّ رَجُلا يُقَالُ لَهُ: طُعْمَةُ بْنُ أُبَيْرِقٍ سَرَقَ دِرْعًا عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَرُفِعَ ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَلْقَاهَا في
