‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam, who said regarding His saying, the Almighty: “A moderate nation,” he said: The moderate ones are the people of Allah’s obedience, and they are the People of the Scripture.
[6605] Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Yazid narrated to us, from Sa‘id, from Qatadah regarding “Among them are a moderate nation,” he says: [Those who remain] upon His Book.
His saying, the Almighty: “And many of them.”
[6606] My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, Shibl narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding “And many of them,” [meaning] the Jews, “evil is that which they do.”
His saying, the Almighty: “Evil is that which they do.”
[6607] Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas narrated to us, Yazid narrated to us, from Sa‘id, from Qatadah, who said: Then He disparaged most of the people, saying: “And many of them, evil is that which they do.”
His saying, the Almighty: “O Messenger.”
[6608] I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn ‘Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, Bukayr ibn Ma‘ruf narrated to us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: “O Messenger,” he says: O Muhammad.
His saying, the Almighty: “Convey what has been revealed to you from your Lord.”
[6609] My father narrated to us, ‘Uthman ibn Hirzad narrated to us, Isma‘il ibn Zakariyya narrated to us, ‘Ali ibn ‘Abis narrated to us, from al-A‘mash, from the son of al-Hijab, from ‘Atiyyah al-‘Awfi, from Abu Sa‘id al-Khudri, who said: This verse was revealed, “O Messenger, convey what has been revealed to you from your Lord,” regarding ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib.
[6610] I read to Muhammad, Muhammad narrated to us, from Bukayr ibn Ma‘ruf, from Muqatil regarding “O Messenger, convey what has been revealed to you from your Lord,” he says: Convey that with which you were sent, urging him to convey the message from his Lord.
[6611] Ahmad ibn Mansur al-Ramadi narrated to us, Sa‘id ibn Sulayman narrated to us, ‘Abbad narrated to us, from Harun ibn ‘Antarah, from his father, who said: I was with Ibn ‘Abbas when a man came to him and said: Indeed, people come to us and tell us that you have something that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did not disclose. He said: Do you not know that Allah
