[The Third Aspect]

[6626] Al-Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, [who said]: The Sabaeans are between the Magians and the Jews; they have no religion.

[The Fourth Aspect]

[6627] My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Narsi narrated to us, Hushaym narrated to us, from Mutarrif, who said: We were with al-Hakam, and a man from the people of Basra narrated to him from al-Hasan that he used to say regarding the Sabaeans that they are like the Magians. Al-Hakam then said: Did I not inform you of that?

[The Fifth Aspect]

[6628] Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi‘ narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma‘mar narrated to us, from Qatadah, who said: The Sabaeans are a people who worship the angels, pray toward a direction other than the Qibla, and read the Zabur (Psalms).

[The Sixth Aspect]

[6629] Yunus reported to us from ‘Abd al-A‘la as a reading, Ibn Wahb informed us, Ibn Abi al-Zinad informed me, from his father, who said: The Sabaeans are a people facing Iraq, and they are in Kuthy. They believe in all the prophets, they fast thirty days every year, and they pray five prayers every day toward the right.

[The Seventh Aspect]

[6630] Abu ‘Abd Allah al-Tihrani reported to me in what he wrote to me, Isma‘il ibn ‘Abd al-Karim al-San‘ani narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Samad ibn Ma‘qil narrated to us, from Wahb ibn Munabbih, that it was said to him: Who are the Sabaeans? He said: The one who knows Allah alone, yet has no law (shari‘ah) that he follows, and has not committed an innovation of disbelief.

[The Eighth Aspect]

[6631] ‘Isam ibn Rawwad al-‘Asqalani narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja‘far narrated to us, from al-Rabi‘, from Abu al-‘Aliyah, who said: The Sabaeans are a sect from the People of the Scripture who read the Zabur. It was narrated from al-Suddi similar to this.
