[6823] al-‘Abbas ibn Yazid al-‘Abdi informed us, al-Mu‘tamir ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from Zayd Abu al-Mu‘alla, from al-Husayn, that a man killed game and he was excused for it, then he returned and killed other game, so fire descended from the sky and burned him, and that is [the meaning of] His saying: "but whoever returns, then Allah will take retribution from him."
His saying, the Exalted: "And Allah is Exalted in Might"
[6824] ‘Isam ibn Rawwad al-‘Asqalani narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja‘far narrated to us, from al-Rabi‘ ibn Anas, from Abu al-‘Aliyah, regarding "And Allah is Exalted in Might," he says: Exalted in His vengeance when He takes retribution.
[6825] My father narrated to us, al-Hasan ibn al-Rabi‘ narrated to us, Ibn Idris narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ishaq narrated to us, regarding "And Allah is Exalted in Might, the Possessor of Retribution," he said: Exalted, the Possessor of Might.
His saying, the Exalted: "the Possessor of Retribution"
[6826] And by the same chain from Ibn Ishaq, regarding "And Allah is Exalted in Might, the Possessor of Retribution," he said: The Possessor of retribution from whoever has harmed Him.
[6827] Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said regarding "And Allah is Exalted in Might, the Possessor of Retribution": Meaning that Allah is a taker of retribution from whoever disbelieved in His signs after having knowledge of them and having known what came to him from Him regarding them.
His saying, the Exalted: "Lawful to you is game from the sea"
[6828] Ahmad ibn ‘Isam al-Ansari narrated to us, Abu ‘Asim narrated to us, from ‘Uthman, from Sa‘d, from ‘Ikrimah, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding "Lawful to you is game from the sea," he said: His game is [the] fresh [one]. It was narrated from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr the like of that.
[6829] My father narrated to us, Yahya ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, from Sulayman al-Taymi, from Abu Mijlaz, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: "Lawful to you is game from the sea and its food," he said: The game is that which is hunted. It was narrated from Zayd ibn Thabit, Abu Hurayrah, and Abu Salamah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman the like of that.
[6830] ‘Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, ‘Abd al-Mu’min ibn ‘Ali narrated to us, al-Muharibi narrated to us, he said: Sufyan said: We do not know him to have forbidden anything from the game of the sea except dogs.
[6831] My father narrated to us, Abu Nu‘aym narrated to us, Abu Khal-dah narrated to me, Maymun al-Kurdi narrated to me, that Ibn ‘Abbas was riding when locusts passed by him, so he struck them. It was said to him: "You killed game while you are in the state of ihram?" He said: "It is only from the game of the sea."
