His saying, the Almighty: "Look how they lied against themselves."
7184 - Hajjaj narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa’ narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "Look how they lied against themselves," by Allah's declaring them to be liars.
His saying: "And there is lost from them."
7185 - Abu Zur‘ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn ‘Umarah reported to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: Allah said: "Look how they lied against themselves" here on the Day of Resurrection.
His saying: "What they used to invent."
[The First Aspect]
7186 - And by the same chain, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: "And there is lost from them what they used to invent," what they used to lie about in the world.
The Second Aspect:
7187 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-‘Abbas informed us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa‘id narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "What they used to invent," meaning: they associate others with Allah.
His saying: "And among them is he who listens to you."
7188 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa’ narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding His saying: "And among them is he who listens to you," he said: Quraysh.
His saying: "And We have placed over their hearts coverings."
7189 - And by the same chain, from Mujahid, regarding "coverings (akinnah)," he said: Like a quiver for arrows.
7190 - Ahmad ibn ‘Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "Coverings (akinnah), lest they understand it," he said: As for "akinnah," it is the covering; He covered their hearts. It was narrated from Mujahid, ‘Atiyyah, and al-Dahhak, similar to this.
His saying: "Lest they understand it."
7191 - And by the same chain, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "Lest they understand it," they do not understand the truth.
