مجلد 4 · صفحة 265[سورة الأنعام (٦) : آية ٧٠]

الترجمة · EN

al-Suddi, from Abu Malik. Sufyan said: And I think he mentioned Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding "that they might fear Allah" – He said: They might fear causing you displeasure (masa'atakum).

7444 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "that they might fear Allah" – He said: That they might fear causing you displeasure. If they saw that you would not sit with them, they would be shy before you and thus desist from you. Then Allah later abrogated it and forbade them from ever sitting with them. He said: "And He has already revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being denied and ridiculed, do not sit with them until they engage in a different conversation."

7445 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "but only as a reminder that they might fear Allah" – that is, fear causing displeasure to the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, so they do not engage in such discourse.

Sa'id ibn Jubayr said: When the Muslims migrated to Medina, the hypocrites began to sit with the Muslims; whenever they heard the Qur'an, they would engage in discourse and ridicule it, just as the polytheists used to do in Mecca. The Muslims then said: There is no blame upon us; Allah has granted us permission to sit with them, and there is no harm upon us in their discourse. Then there was revealed in Medina His saying: "And He has already revealed to you in the Book."

7446 - It was mentioned from Sharik, from al-Suddi, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "that they might fear Allah" – He said: That they might desist.

His saying: "And leave those who have taken their religion as play and amusement."

7447 - Hajjaj narrated to us, Shababa narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "And leave those who have taken their religion as play and amusement" – similar to His saying: "Leave Me with the one I created alone."

7448 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatada, regarding His saying: "And leave those who have taken their religion as play and amusement" – He said: Its ruling was abrogated by His saying: "then kill the polytheists wherever you find them."
