7541 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "Those who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice," he says: They did not mix their belief with shirk (polytheism).
His saying: "with injustice."
[The first interpretation]
7542 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Ibn Idris and Waki' narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqamah, from 'Abd Allah, who said: When [the verse] "and do not mix their belief with injustice" was revealed, it was difficult for the companions of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and they said: Which of us has not wronged himself? So the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: "It is not as you think. Luqman merely said to his son: 'Do not associate anything with Allah, for shirk is indeed a great injustice.'"
7543 - 'Umar ibn Shabba al-Numayri narrated to us, Abu Ahmad narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim, from 'Alqamah, from 'Abd Allah, from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, regarding His saying: "and do not mix their belief with injustice," he said: "with shirk."
It was narrated from Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, 'Umar, Ubayy ibn Ka'b, Salman, Hudhayfah, Ibn 'Umar, 'Amr ibn Shurahbil, Ibn 'Abbas, Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sulami, Mujahid, 'Ikrimah, al-Nakha'i, al-Dahhak, Qatadah, and al-Suddi, something similar, may Allah be pleased with them.
The second interpretation:
7544 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Nu'aym narrated to us, from Qays ibn al-Rabi', from Ziyad ibn 'Alaqah, from Ziyad ibn Harmalah, who said: 'Ali was asked about this verse: "and do not mix their belief with injustice," and he said: This is specifically for Abraham.
May Allah be pleased with 'Ali and his descendants.
His saying, Almighty and Majestic is He: "Those will have security"
7545 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la narrated to us, as a recitation to him, Ibn Wahb informed us, Yahya ibn Ayyub informed me, from 'Ubayd Allah ibn Zahr, from Bakr ibn Sawadah, who said: A man from the enemy charged at the Muslims and killed a man, then he charged and killed another, then he charged and killed another, then he said: Will Islam benefit me after this? They said: We do not know until we mention that to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He said: They mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he said: Yes. He then struck his horse and entered among them, then he charged at his companions and killed a man, then another, then another, then he was killed. He said: They consider that this verse was revealed regarding him: "Those who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice, those will have security, and they are guided."
