الترجمة · EN

His saying, the Almighty: "And you will never be able to be equal between women, even if you should strive [to do so]."

[The First Aspect]

[6056] Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Husayn al-Ju'fi narrated to us, from Za'idah, from 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Rufay', from Ibn Abi Mulaykah, he said: This verse was revealed, "And you will never be able to be equal between women, even if you should strive [to do so]," concerning 'A'ishah.

And the second aspect:

[6057] My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to me, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And you will never be able to be equal between women, even if you should strive [to do so]," meaning: in love and sexual intercourse. He says: You will not be able to be equal with desire between them, even if you strive.

It was narrated from al-Dahhak that he said: In desire and sexual intercourse.

It was narrated from 'Abidah al-Salman al-Salmani and al-Hasan, they both said: In love and sexual intercourse.

[6058] Sulayman ibn Dawud narrated to us, Sahl ibn 'Uthman narrated to us, Yahya narrated to us, from Mubarak, from al-Hasan regarding: "And you will never be able to be equal between women, even if you should strive [to do so]," he said: With his heart and his passion, but [you must be equal] in the division.

His saying, the Almighty: "So do not incline completely [toward one]."

[6059] My father narrated to us, Abu al-Rabi' al-Zahrani narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, Ayyub narrated to us, from Muhammad, he said: I asked 'Abidah about His saying: "So do not incline completely [toward one]," he said: With his person.

[6060] Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "So do not incline completely [toward one]" [means] the intent of mistreatment.

[6061] Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "So do not incline completely [toward one]," he says: He inclines toward her and does not spend on her and does not set aside a day for her.

[6062] 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Musa ibn Harun narrated to us, Marwan narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, regarding His saying: "So do not incline completely [toward one]," he says: Do not incline toward the one you love completely, but be just in the division of nights and days, and expenditure.
