7824 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us from Qatadah regarding His saying: 'And leave the apparent sin,' he said: Its public manifestation. It was narrated from al-Rabi' ibn Anas similarly.
The third interpretation:
7825 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us from al-Suddi: Regarding His saying: 'And leave the apparent sin and its hidden aspects,' he said: As for the apparent sin, it is the prostitutes who are in the brothels.

The first interpretation:
7826 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, from Ibrahim ibn Tahman, from 'Ata', from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: 'And leave the apparent sin and its hidden aspects,' he said: Its hidden aspect is adultery.
7827 - Muhammad ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, Sahl ibn Bakkar narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr: 'And leave the apparent sin and its hidden aspects.' He said: The hidden aspect is adultery.
The second interpretation:

7829 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us from al-Suddi: Regarding His saying: 'And leave the apparent sin and its hidden aspects,' he said: As for its hidden aspect, it is the mistress a man takes and visits in secret.
His saying: 'Indeed, those who earn sin will be recompensed for what they used to commit'
7830 - And through the same chain from al-Suddi: 'Sin,' he said: Sin is disobedience.
