"Today, all good things are made lawful for you, and the food of those who were given the Scripture is lawful for you." He abrogated it with that, and made the food of the People of the Scripture lawful.

His saying, the Almighty: "And indeed, it is a sin."

7838 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my paternal uncle narrated to me, from his father, from 'Atiyyah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And indeed, it is a sin," he said: "Al-fisq (the sin) is disobedience."

7839 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata' narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr: regarding His saying: "And indeed, it is a sin," meaning: eating carrion because it is an act of disobedience.

His saying, the Mighty and Majestic: "And indeed, the devils do inspire"

7840 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Bakr ibn 'Ayyash narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, who said: A man said to Ibn 'Umar: "al-Mukhtar claims that he receives inspiration (wahy)." He said: "He has spoken the truth," and he recited this verse: "And indeed, the devils do inspire their allies."

7841 - My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, 'Ikrimah ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, from Abu Zumayl, who said: I was sitting with Ibn 'Abbas, and al-Mukhtar ibn Abi 'Ubayd had performed Hajj. A man came and said: "O Ibn 'Abbas, Abu Ishaq claims that he was inspired to this night." Ibn 'Abbas said: "He has spoken the truth." I was startled and said: "Ibn 'Abbas says 'he has spoken the truth'!?" Ibn 'Abbas said: "There are two types of inspiration: the inspiration of Allah and the inspiration of the devil. The inspiration of Allah the Almighty is to Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the inspiration of the devil is to their allies." Then he recited: "And indeed, the devils do inspire their allies."

7842 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Bishr ibn al-Hakam narrated to us, Musa ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz al-Qinbari narrated to us, al-Hakam ibn Aban narrated to us, 'Ikrimah narrated to me: "And indeed, the devils do inspire their allies." He said: "The devils (meaning) Persia inspired their allies."

His saying: "to their allies"

7843 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Uth 'Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And indeed, the devils do inspire to their allies."
