7918 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas informed us, Yazid narrated to us, Sa'id narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding: "And likewise, their partners have made the killing of their children attractive to many of the polytheists." He said: Their partners made it attractive.
His saying: "Their partners"
7919 - al-Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: His saying: "And likewise, their partners have made the killing of their children attractive to many of the polytheists." He said: Their devils order them to bury their children alive for fear of poverty.
His saying: "To bring about their ruin"
7920 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: His saying: "To bring about their ruin," meaning to destroy them.
His saying: "And to confuse them in their religion"
7921 - And through the same chain, from al-Suddi: "And to confuse them in their religion," meaning to mix up their religion for them.
His saying: "If Allah had willed, they would not have done so. So leave them and their fabrications."
7922 - Musa ibn Abi Musa narrated to us, Harun ibn Hatim narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, from Asbat, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik: His saying: "So leave them," meaning let them be.
His saying: "These are livestock and crops that are restricted."
7923 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And they said, 'These are livestock and crops that are restricted.'" The "restricted" (hijr) is what they forbade of the wasilah and the forbidding of what they forbade.
7924 - al-Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: His saying: "And they said, 'These are livestock and crops that are restricted,'" from what they assigned to Allah and their partners.
7925 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj narrated to us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam regarding His saying: "And they said, 'These are livestock and crops that are restricted,'" for they had restricted those crops for their gods.
