and he, along with Abu Bakr, came to visit me, and they were walking. They arrived while I had fainted, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed ablution, then poured his ablution water over me, and I regained consciousness. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, how should I bequeath my wealth? How should I act regarding my wealth?' The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) did not answer me until the verse of inheritance was revealed.
[6329] Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Muqri’ narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, and Abu al-Zubayr said, meaning Jabir: "It was revealed concerning me: 'They ask you for a ruling. Say, Allah gives you a ruling regarding the kalalah.'"
The explanation of the kalalah has already preceded.
His saying, the Almighty: "If a man dies..."
[6330] Ahmad ibn ‘Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "If a man dies (in amru’un halaka)," he says: "Has died."
Similar to this was narrated from Sa’id ibn Jubayr.
His saying, the Almighty: "...who has no child but has a sister."
[6331] Abu Zur’ah narrated to us, Yahya narrated to us, Ibn Lahi’ah narrated to us, ‘Ata’ narrated to me, from Sa’id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah the Almighty: "...who has no child but has a sister," [meaning] from his father and mother, or from his father.
His saying, the Almighty: "...she will have half of what he left."
[6332] And by the same chain, from Sa’id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah the Almighty: "...she will have half of what he left," [meaning] from the inheritance, and the remainder is for the agnatic heirs (al-‘asabah).
His saying, the Almighty: "And he inherits from her if she has no child."
[6333] And by the same chain, from Sa’id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah the Almighty: "And he inherits from her if she has no child."
His saying, the Almighty: "But if there are two [sisters]..."
[6334] And by the same chain, from Sa’id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "But if there are two [sisters]," he said: "If the brother dies and he has two sisters or more, from his father and mother or from his father."
