His saying, the Almighty: "And whoever Allah wants to put into trial."
[6370] My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And whoever Allah wants to put into trial," he says: Whoever Allah wants to lead astray.
It was narrated from al-Suddi similar to that.
His saying, the Almighty: "You will never possess for him [the power to do] anything against Allah."
[6371] And by the same chain, from Ibn 'Abbas: He says: You will never alter anything for him.
His saying, the Almighty: "Those are the ones for whom Allah does not intend to purify their hearts."
[6372] Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Asbat ibn Muhammad narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Muslim al-Batin, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: The heart (qalb) was only named as such because of its constant turning (taqallub).
His saying, the Almighty: "For them in the world is disgrace."
[The First Aspect]
[6373] Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "For them in the world is disgrace," he said: As for their disgrace in the world, it is when the Mahdi stands, he will conquer Constantinople and kill them; that is the disgrace. It was narrated from Qatadah that he said: It is a city that will be conquered in the land of the Byzantines (Rum).
[The Second Aspect]
[6374] al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from Qatadah regarding: "For them in the world is disgrace," meaning: What Allah inflicted upon the people of Qurayzah in terms of captivity and killing, and upon the people of al-Nadir in terms of banishment.
His saying, the Almighty: "And for them in the Hereafter is a great punishment."
[6375] And by the same chain, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "A great punishment," meaning: An abundant punishment.
His saying, the Almighty: "[They are] avid listeners to falsehood."
[6376] And by the same chain, from Muqatil, regarding His saying: "Avid listeners to falsehood," it refers to the nobility (al-ashraf).
[6377] 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn 'Umar narrated to me, Abu 'Aqil al-Rumi narrated to us, from al-Hasan, regarding His saying: "Avid listeners to falsehood," he said: Those are the kings who listen to his falsehood and take his bribe."
