His saying, the Almighty: "We will kill their sons and keep their women alive."
8825 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Muhammad ibn Abi Hammad told us, Mihran told us, from Sufyan regarding His saying: "...and keep their women alive," he said: We will not kill them.
His saying, the Almighty: "And be patient."
8826 - 'Ali ibn Muhammad ibn Abi al-Khasib told us, Waki' told us, from Sufyan, from Abu Ishaq, from Jurayy ibn Kulayb, from a man from Banu Sulaym, from the Prophet, peace be upon him, who said: "Fasting is half of patience."
8827 - My father told us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Hamzah ibn Isma'il told us, Ishaq ibn Sulayman told us, from Abu Sinan, from 'Umar ibn al-Khattab, who said: Patience is of two types: patience during a calamity, which is good, and what is better than it, is patience in abstaining from the prohibitions of Allah. It has also been narrated from al-Hasan similar to the saying of 'Umar.
8828 - My father told us, 'Abdah ibn Sulayman al-Marwazi told us, Ibn al-Mubarak informed us, Ibn Lahi'ah informed us, from 'Ata' ibn Dinar, that Sa'id ibn Jubayr said: Patience is the servant's acknowledgement to Allah for what has befallen him, and his seeking reward for it from Allah in hope of His recompense. A man may experience distress while still being resolute; nothing is seen from him except patience.
His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, the earth belongs to Allah. He causes to inherit it whom He wills of His servants."
8829 - My father told us, Abu Salih the scribe of al-Layth told us, al-Layth told me, my father told me, 'Isa ibn Hammad al-Tajibi told us, al-Layth told us, from Sa'id ibn Abi Sa'id al-Maqburi, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: While we were in the mosque, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, came out to us and said: "Set out to the Jews." So we went out with him until we reached their schools (madaris). He stood and called to them, and he said on the third time: "Know that the earth belongs to Allah and His Messenger, and that I intend to expel you from this land."
His saying, the Almighty: "And the [ultimate] outcome is for the righteous."

8830 - Ahmad ibn Sinan told us, Abu al-Nadr Hashim ibn al-Qasim told us, Abu 'Aqil 'Abd Allah ibn 'Aqil told us, from 'Abd Allah ibn Yazid, from Rabi'ah ibn Yazid and 'Atiyyah ibn Qays, from 'Atiyyah al-Sa'di, and he was one of the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: "A man does not reach the rank of the righteous (muttaqin) until he abandons that which has no harm in it, out of caution for that which does have harm."
