rain. He said: Allah then caused to grow for them in that year something of crops, fodder, and fruits which He had not caused to grow before that. They said: "This is what we were wishing for." So Allah sent the locusts upon them and empowered them
over the fodder. When they saw their effect on the fodder, they knew that it would not leave the crops. They said: "O Musa, pray to your Lord for us to lift the locusts from us, for we will believe in you and we will send the Children of Israel with you." He prayed to his Lord, and He lifted the locusts from them. They threshed them and stored them in houses, then they said: "We have now secured [our needs]."
8865 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid (1) regarding His saying: "So We sent upon them the flood and the locusts," he said: The locusts eat the nails of their luggage, meaning their doors and their garments.
8867 - My father told us, 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Munib ibn Mu'adh told us, from 'Ubayd ibn Sulayman, from al-Dahhak regarding His saying: "And the locusts," he said: So Allah sent upon them the locusts which have no wings, and they followed what remained of their crops, their trees, and the rest of their vegetation.
8868 - Al-Mundhir ibn Shadhan told us, Ya'la told us, Sufyan told us, from Abu Khalid, from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: The locusts are a discharge from a whale in the sea.
His saying, the Almighty: "And the lice"

8869 - My father told us, Muslim ibn Ibrahim told us, 'Abd al-Warith told us, 'Amir al-Ahwal told us, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding the saying of Allah: "And the lice," he said: It is the 'duba' (small locusts/nymphs).
8870 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Minjab ibn al-Harith told us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah reported to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And the lice," he said: The locusts that have no wings, and it is the 'duba'. It was narrated from al-Dahhak, Qatadah, Sa'id ibn Jubayr, and 'Ata' al-Khurasani the same thing.

الْمَطَرَ، قَالَ: فَأَنْبَتَ اللَّهُ لَهُمْ فِي تِلْكَ السُّنَّةِ شَيْئًا لَمْ يُنْبِتْهُ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ مِنَ الزَّرْعِ، وَالْكَلأِ وَالثَّمَرِ، فَقَالُوا: هَذَا مَا كُنَّا نَتَمَنَّى فَأَرْسَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْجَرَادَ فَسَلَّطَهُ.
عَلَى الْكَلَإِ فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا أَثَرَهُ فِي الْكَلأِ، عَرَفُوا أَنَّهُ لَا يُبْقِي الزَّرْعَ، قَالُوا: يَا مُوسَى ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ يَكْشِفُ عَنَّا الْجَرَادَ، فَنُؤْمُنُ لَكَ، وَنُرْسِلُ مَعَكَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ، فَكَشَفَ عَنْهُمُ الْجَرَادَ، فَدَاسُوا فَأَحْرَزُوا فِي الْبُيُوتِ فَقَالُوا: قَدْ أَحْرَزْنَا.
٨٨٦٥ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، ثنا شَبَابَةُ، ثنا وَرْقَاءُ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ «١» قَوْلُهُ: فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ الطُّوفَانَ وَالْجَرَادَ قَالَ: وَالْجَرَادُ تَأْكُلُ مَسَامِيرَ زِنْجِهِمْ يَعْنِي أَبْوَابَهُمْ وَثِيَابَهُمْ.
٨٨٦٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُنِيبٍ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ قَوْلُهُ: وَالْجَرَادَ فَأَرْسَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمُ الْجَرَادَ الَّذِي لَا أَجْنِحَةَ لَهُ فَتَتَبَّعَ مَا بَقِيَ مِنْ حُرُوفِهِمْ وَشَجَرِهِمْ، وَسَائِرِ نَبَاتِهِمْ.
٨٨٦٨ - حَدَّثَنَا الْمُنْذِرُ بْنُ شَاذَانَ، ثنا يَعْلَى، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: الْجَرَادُ: نَثْرَةٌ مِنْ حُوتٍ فِي الْبَحْرِ.

٨٨٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنْبَأَ بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَالْقُمَّلَ قَالَ: الْجَرَادُ الذِّي لَيْسَ لَهُ أَجْنِحَةٌ وَهُوَ الدُّبَى وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، وَقَتَادَةَ، وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، وَعَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ مثل ذلك.
