9031 - Muhammad ibn 'Ammar ibn al-Harith told us, 'Abd al-Rahman al-Dashtaki told us, Abu Ja'far al-Razi reported, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas regarding His saying: "It is not but Your trial," he says: Your affliction. It was also narrated from Sa'id ibn Jubayr something similar.

9032 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj told us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying regarding the saying of Allah: "It is not but Your trial," he said: You are their trial.

His saying, the Almighty: "You misguide by it whom You will."

9033 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "You misguide by it whom You will," he says: It is nothing but Your punishment, You strike with it whom You will.

His saying, the Almighty: "And You guide whom You will."

9034 - And by the same chain from Ibn 'Abbas regarding his saying: "It is not but Your trial, You misguide by it whom You will and You guide whom You will," he says: It is nothing but Your punishment, You strike with it whom You will, and You turn it away from whom You will.

His saying, the Almighty: "You are our Protector, so forgive us."

9035 - And by the same chain from Ibn 'Abbas: "You are our Protector, so forgive us," he means: He said, "Our Lord, forgive us and have mercy on us, and You are the best of the forgivers."

His saying, the Almighty: "And decree for us in this world."

9036 - It was mentioned from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Bishr ibn al-Hakam al-Naysaburi, Musa ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz told us, al-Hakam ibn Aban told me, 'Ikrimah told me regarding His saying: "And decree for us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter," so He decreed mercy on that day for this Ummah.

His saying, the Almighty: "In this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter."

9037 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Abu al-Ahwas Muhammad ibn Hayyan told us, 'Abbad ibn al-'Awwam told me, Hisham informed me from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good," he said: The good in this world is knowledge and worship.
