8335 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn told us, Ibn Abi Hammad told us, Mihran told us, from Sufyan, from Mansur, from Ibrahim, regarding His saying: "The unlettered Prophet," he said: He used to read but did not write.
His saying, the Almighty: "Which they find written with them"
8336 - Muhammad ibn Yahya told us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid reported to us, Yazid told us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, he said: "Which they find written with them in the Torah," he said: They find his description, his commands, and his prophethood written with them.
His saying, the Almighty: "In the Torah and the Gospel"
8337 - My father told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Raja' told us, 'Imran Abu al-'Awwam al-Qattan reported to us, from Qatadah, from Abu al-Malih, from Wathilah, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: The Torah was revealed [on the] sixth day of Ramadan, and the Gospel was revealed on the thirteenth day of Ramadan.
His saying, the Almighty: "He enjoins upon them the good"
8338 - My father told us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Dashtaki told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far told us, from his father, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, he said: Every verse in which Allah mentions the ordering of good in the Quran, the ordering of good means that they called [people] to Allah alone and to His worship, having no partner.
8339 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali told us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim told us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "The good," he said: They command [the people] to obey their Lord.
His saying, the Almighty: "And forbids them from evil"
8340 - My father told us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Dashtaki told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far told us, from his father, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, he said: Every verse in which Allah mentions the forbidding of evil in the Quran, [it refers to] the forbidding of the worship of idols and Satan.
8341 - I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali told us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim told us, from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding His saying: "And forbids them from evil," he said: They forbid [the people] from disobeying their Lord.
