His saying: "And do not follow the inclinations of those who denied Our signs," the verse.

8056 - Al-Hasan ibn 'Arafah al-'Abdi told us, Muhammad ibn Fudayl told us, from Dawud al-Awdi, from 'Amir, from 'Alqamah, from 'Abd Allah, who said: "Whoever finds pleasure in looking at the will of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) which bears his seal, let him recite: 'Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you," to His saying: "so that you may become righteous."'"
8057 - Abu Muqatil ibn Muhammad al-Razi told us, Waki' told us, from 'Ali ibn Salih, from Abu Ishaq, from 'Abd Allah ibn Qays, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: "They are the decisive verses: 'Say, "Come, I will recite what your Lord has prohibited to you,"' three verses."
His saying: "[That you] do not associate anything with Him."
8058 - Muhammad ibn 'Awf al-Himsi told us, Ibn Abi Maryam told us, Nafi' ibn Yazid informed me, Sayyar ibn 'Abd al-Rahman told me, from Yazid ibn Qawdhar, from Salamah ibn Shurayh, from 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit, who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) enjoined upon us seven traits: that you do not associate anything with Allah, even if you are burned, cut, or crucified."
His saying, exalted be He: "And to parents, do good."
8058 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Safwan told us, al-Walid told us, Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf informed us, from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, regarding the saying of Allah: "And to parents, do good," he said: "Speak truthfully regarding what He has commanded you, and regarding what He has commanded you concerning the right of parents."
His saying, exalted be He: "And do not kill your children out of poverty; We provide for you and for them."
8059 - My father told us, Abu Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "'And do not kill your children out of poverty,'" he said: "'Al-imlaq' means poverty. They killed their children for fear of poverty."
