His statement, the Exalted: "We will gradually lead them"
8590 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed us in what he wrote to me, Ahmad ibn Mufaddal told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi, regarding "We will gradually lead them from where they do not know," he says: We will seize them from where they do not know.
His statement, the Exalted: "From where they do not know"
8591 - And by the same chain from al-Suddi, regarding His statement: "from where they do not know," he says: We will seize them from where they do not know; he says: [it refers to] the punishment of Badr.
His statement, the Exalted: "And I will respite them; indeed, My plan is firm"
His statement, the Exalted: "Have they not reflected? There is no madness in their companion; he is but a clear warner."
8592 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' told us, Sa'id told us, from Qatadah, he said: It was mentioned to us that the Prophet of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was upon al-Safa and he called out to Quraysh, gathering them tribe by tribe, saying: "O children of such-and-such," warning them of the severity of Allah and the punishments of Allah. A speaker among them said: "This companion of yours is indeed mad; he has been shouting until morning," or: "until it was morning." So Allah revealed: "Have they not reflected? There is no madness in their companion; he is but a clear warner."
[His statement, the Exalted: "Have they not looked into the dominion of the heavens and the earth"]
[The first interpretation]
8593 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle narrated to me, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His statement: "dominion of the heavens and the earth," meaning: the creation of the heavens and the earth. And a similar report was narrated from al-Dahhak in one of the narrations.
And the second interpretation:
8594 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Khalid told us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, regarding His statement: "Have they not looked into the dominion of the heavens and the earth," he said: [It refers to] the sun, the moon, and the stars. And a similar report was narrated from Mujahid and Sufyan.
