His statement, the Exalted: "In order that he might dwell in tranquility with her."
8635 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid told us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, "created from it its mate," he said: Hawwa' (Eve) was created from a rib among his ribs in order that he might dwell in tranquility with her.
His statement, the Exalted: "And when he covered her."
8636 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Ali ibn Hamzah told us, Habban told us, from 'Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak, from Sharik, from Khusayf, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And when he [Adam] covered her," she became pregnant.
His statement, the Exalted: "She carried a light burden."
8637 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Hilal ibn al-Fayyad told us, 'Umar ibn Ibrahim told us, from Qatadah, from al-Hasan, from Samurah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "When Hawwa' became pregnant, her child would not survive. So Satan said to her: 'Name him 'Abd al-Harith, and he will survive.' So she named him [that], and that was from the whisperings and commands of Satan. So she carried a light burden, and it was not yet manifest."
8638 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd informed me, in what he wrote to me, my uncle al-Husayn told me, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas: His statement, "And when he covered her, she carried a light burden," she doubted whether she had become pregnant or not.
8639 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid told us, from Sa'id ibn Zuray', from Qatadah, his statement: "And when he covered her, she carried a light burden," then her pregnancy became manifest.
8640 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad ibn Talhah told us, Asbat told us, from al-Suddi, he said: He had intercourse with Hawwa', so she carried a light burden, and she continued with it [the pregnancy] while it was still a drop (nutfa).
His statement, the Exalted: "And she continued with it."

8641 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Hilal ibn al-Fayyad told us, 'Umar ibn Ibrahim told us, from Qatadah, from al-Hasan, from Samurah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "When Hawwa' became pregnant, her child would not survive. So she carried a light burden," he says: Light, [in that] it had not become manifest. "And she continued with it" [meaning] when her pregnancy became manifest."
