His statement, the Exalted: "And pay attention so that you may receive mercy."
8737 - My father narrated to us, Abu 'Umar al-Khawsi told us, Mubarak told us, from al-Hasan, regarding: "So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention," he said: When you sit for the Qur'an, then pay attention to it.
His statement, the Exalted: "And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and with fear."
[The First Aspect]
8738 - Al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ibn al-Tamimi informed us, from his father, from Hayyan ibn 'Umayr, from 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr regarding the statement of Allah: "And remember your Lord within yourself," he said: Allah says: If My servant remembers Me within himself, I remember him within Myself. If My servant remembers Me by himself, I remember him by Myself. And if he remembers Me in a gathering, I remember him in a gathering better than them and more honorable.
8739 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray', Sa'id told us, from Qatadah, regarding his statement: "And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and with fear," Allah commanded His remembrance and forbade heedlessness.
The Second Aspect:
8740 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la informed us by recitation, Ibn Wahb told us, Ibn Zayd 'Abd al-Rahman told me, from his father Zayd ibn Aslam, regarding: "And remember your Lord within yourself," he said: Remembrance is that you remember Allah, exalt Him (tasbih), profess His oneness (tahlil), and praise Him (tahmid).
8741 - My father mentioned it, 'Abdan ibn 'Uthman al-Marwazi told us, from Abu Hamzah, meaning al-Sukkari, from Mutarrif, from al-Hakam ibn 'Utaybah regarding his statement: "And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and with fear," he said: If the Imam makes the recitation audible to you, then do not utter anything.
His statement, the Exalted: "And without loud speech."
8742 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj told us, he said: I heard Ibn Zayd regarding his statement: "And without loud speech," do not speak aloud with that.
8743 - Yunus ibn 'Abd al-A'la informed us by recitation, Ibn Wahb informed us, Ibn Zayd 'Abd al-Rahman told me, from his father Zayd ibn Aslam, regarding "without loud speech," he said: Do not speak aloud in the mornings and the evenings.
8744 - And with his chain of narration, he said: And without loud speech, by the mornings, one speaks aloud in them.
