His saying, the Almighty: "O you who have believed."

8883 - Zayd ibn Isma'il al-Sa'igh narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Hisham narrated to me from 'Isa ibn Rashid, from 'Ali ibn Bazhi'ah, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: Allah did not send down any verse in the Quran beginning with "O you who have believed" except that 'Ali is its noble one, its prince, and its master. There is no one among the companions of Muhammad who was not reproached in the Quran except 'Ali ibn Abi Talib, for he was not reproached in any of it.

8884 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Sulayman narrated to us from al-A'mash, from Khaythamah, who said: What you recite in the Quran as "O you who have believed," it is in the Torah as "O you the needy."

8885 - My father narrated to us, Nu'aym ibn Hammad narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, Mis'ar informed us, Ma'n and 'Awn narrated to us, or one of them, that a man came to 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud and said: Give me a charge. He said: When you hear Allah saying, "O you who have believed," then give it your attention, for it is either good that He is commanding, or evil that He is forbidding.

8886 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ibrahim Duhaym narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us from al-Awza'i, from al-Zuhri, who said: When Allah says, "O you who have believed, do [such and such]," the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—is among them.

His saying, the Almighty: "When you meet those who disbelieve marching [in battle]."

8887 - al-Ahmasi narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us from 'Ali ibn Salih, from 'Uthman ibn al-Mughirah al-Thaqafi, from Malik ibn Juwayn al-Hadrami, from 'Ali—may Allah be pleased with him—who said: Fleeing from the march is one of the major sins.

8888 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj narrated to us, Abu Usamah narrated to us from Muhammad ibn 'Amr, from Ibn Salamah, who said: The binding [sins] include fleeing from the march. Then he recited: "When you meet those who disbelieve marching [in battle]."

9623 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah: "O you who have believed, when you meet those who disbelieve marching [in battle]"—meaning: on the day of Badr.
