His saying, the Almighty: 'And if you cease, it is better for you.'

8924 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas, the freed slave of the Banu Hashim, narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Muhammad ibn Ja'far ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us, from 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, regarding 'And if you cease'—i.e., you, Quraysh—'it is better for you.'

8925 - It was mentioned from 'Amr al-'Anqazi, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding 'And if you cease, it is better for you,' he said: If you cease from fighting Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

His saying, the Almighty: 'And if you return, We will return.'

8926 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, Muhammad ibn Ja'far ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me, from 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, regarding 'And if you return, We will return,' i.e., with the likes of the event that befell you on the day of Badr.

8927 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman al-Awdi informed us—in what he wrote to me—Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding 'And if you return, We will return,' he says: If you seek a judgment a second time, I will grant a judgment for Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

His saying, the Almighty: 'And your group will not avail you anything, even if it is numerous.'

8928 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Muhammad ibn Ja'far ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me, from 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, regarding 'And your group will not avail you anything,' i.e., even if your number is numerous in your own estimation, it will not avail you anything.

His saying, the Almighty: 'And that Allah is with the believers.'

8929 - And by the same chain, from 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, regarding 'And that Allah is with the believers,' [He says:] And I am with the believers, granting them victory over those who oppose them.

8930 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim al-Awdi informed us—in what he wrote to me—Ahmad ibn Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding 'And that Allah is with the believers,' [He is] with Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and his companions, may Allah be pleased with them.
