8937 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah: 'Deaf to the truth, so they do not hear it.'
8938 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us—in what he wrote to me—Asbagh narrated to us, Ibn Zayd (Abd al-Rahman) narrated to us, regarding Allah's saying: 'The deaf,' they are not the deaf [in the physical sense] in the world, but rather the deaf in heart.
His saying, the Almighty: 'The dumb.'
8939 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah reported to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn Abbas, regarding His saying: 'Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah are the deaf, the dumb,' he said: 'The dumb (al-abkam) is the mute (al-akhras).'
8940 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Bashir narrated to us, from Qatadah, who said: 'Dumb, meaning they do not speak with it [the truth].'
His saying, the Almighty: 'Who do not reason.'
8942 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Ja'far ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us, from 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, regarding 'Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah are the deaf, the dumb, who do not reason,' i.e., the hypocrites; they do not know what consequences and liability are upon them for that.
8943 - My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, Shibl narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, from Ibn Abbas: 'The deaf, the dumb, who do not reason,' [meaning] they do not follow the truth.
His saying, the Almighty: 'And if Allah had known any good in them, He would have made them hear.'
8944 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah ibn al-Fadl narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Muhammad ibn Ja'far ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me, from 'Urwah ibn al-Zubayr, regarding 'And if Allah had known any good in them, He would have made them hear,' i.e., He would have fulfilled for them the statement they uttered with their tongues, but their hearts differed from that.
٨٩٣٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا صَفْوَانُ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ ثنا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ: صُمٌّ عَنِ الْحَقِّ فَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَهُ.
٨٩٣٨ - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَزِيدَ الْقَرَاطِيسِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ ثنا أَصْبَغُ ثنا ابْنُ زَيْدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: الصُّمُّ وَلَيْسَ بِالصُّمِّ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَلَكِنْ صُمِ الْقَلْبِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى الْبُكْمُ
٨٩٣٩ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنْبَأَ بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابِّ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ الصُّمُّ الْبُكْمُ قَالَ:
الأَبْكَمُ: الأَخْرَسُ.
٨٩٤٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا صَفْوَانُ ثنا الْوَلِيدُ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ:
بِكُمٌ فَهُمْ لَا يَنْطِقُونَ بِهِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: الَّذِينَ لا يَعْقِلُونَ
٨٩٤٢ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا سَلَمَةُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابِّ عِنْدَ اللهِ الصُّمُّ الْبُكْمُ الَّذِينَ لا يَعْقِلُونَ أَيْ الْمُنَافِقِينَ لَا يَعْرِفُونَ مَا عَلَيْهِمْ فِي ذَلِكَ مِنَ النِّقْمَةِ وَالْتَبَاعَةِ
٨٩٤٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ ثنا شِبْلٌ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ الصُّمُّ الْبُكْمُ الَّذِينَ لا يَعْقِلُونَ لَا يَتَّبِعُونَ الْحَقَّ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَلَوْ عَلِمَ اللَّهُ فِيهِمْ خَيْرًا لأَسْمَعَهُمْ
٨٩٤٤ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَلَوْ عَلِمَ اللَّهُ فِيهِمْ خَيْرًا لأَسْمَعَهُمْ أَيْ لأَنْفَذَ لَهُمْ قَوْلَهُمُ الَّذِي قَالُوا بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ، وَلَكِنِ الْقُلُوبُ خَالَفَتْ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُمْ.
