His saying, the Almighty: "And We drowned the people of Pharaoh."
9179 - Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd Allah ibn al-Munadi informed us—in what he wrote to me—Yunus ibn Muhammad al-Mu'addib narrated to us, Shayban al-Nahwi narrated to us, from Qatadah, regarding his saying: "And We drowned the people of Pharaoh," he said: Allah drowned the people of Pharaoh, their enemy, as favors from Allah, to make them known to them so that they might be grateful and recognize His right.
His saying, the Almighty: "Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah."
9180 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Ibn Numayr narrated to us, from Warqa', from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, "Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah," Ibn 'Abbas said: They are a group of Quraysh from the Banu 'Abd al-Dar.
His saying, the Almighty: "Those with whom you made a treaty."
9181 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, Warqa' narrated to us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid, regarding his saying: "with whom you made a treaty, then they break their covenant," they are the Qurayzah on the day of the Trench (al-Khandaq), who rallied against Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, with his enemies.
His saying, the Almighty: "So if you gain dominance over them in war, then disperse by them."
[The First Aspect]
9182 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding his saying: "then disperse by them those behind them," he says: Make them an example (nakkil) to those behind them.
Similar to this was narrated from al-Hasan, al-Dahhak, al-Suddi, 'Ata' al-Khurasani, and Ibn 'Uyaynah.
The Second Aspect:
9183 - My father narrated to us, Nu'aym ibn Hammad and Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-A'la al-San'ani narrated to us, they both said: Muhammad ibn Thawr narrated to us, from Ma'mar, from Ayyub, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding his saying: "then disperse by them those behind them," he says: Warn by them.
9184 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid al-Narsi informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray' narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding "then disperse by them those behind them," he says: Exhort by them.

قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَأَغْرَقْنَا آلَ فرعون
٩١٧٩ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُنَادِي- فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ- ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُؤَدِّبُ ثنا شَيْبَانُ النَّحْوِيُّ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَوْلُهُ: وَأَغْرَقْنَا آلَ فرعون قَالَ: أَغْرَقَ اللَّهُ آلَ فِرْعَوْنَ عَدُوَّهُمْ نِعَمًا مِنَ اللَّهِ يُعَرِّفُهُمْ بِهَا لِكَيْ مَا يَشْكُرُوا وَيَعْرِفُوا حَقَّهُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابِّ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ
٩١٨٠ - حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ عَنْ وَرْقَاءِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ إِنَّ شَرَّ الدَّوَابِّ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: هُمْ نَفَرٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: الَّذِينَ عَاهَدْتَ مِنْهُمْ
٩١٨١ - حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ثنا شَبَابَةُ ثنا وَرْقَاءُ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ «١»
قوله: عَاهَدْتَ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ يَنْقُضُونَ عَهْدَهُمْ قُرَيْظَةُ يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ مَالَؤُوا عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ- أَعْدَاءَهُ.
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: فَإِمَّا تَثْقَفَنَّهُمْ فِي الْحَرْبِ فَشَرِّدْ بهم

٩١٨٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنْبَأَ بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَوْلُهُ: فَشَرِّدْ بِهِمْ مَنْ خَلْفَهُمْ يَقُولُ: نَكِّلْ بِهِمْ.
وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ وَالضَّحَّاكِ وَالسُّدِّيِّ وَعَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ وَابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ مِثْلُ ذَلِكَ.
الْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:
٩١٨٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ قَالا: ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ ثَوْرٍ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَوْلُهُ: فَشَرِّدْ بِهِمْ مَنْ خَلْفَهُمْ يَقُولُ: أَنْذِرْ بِهِمْ.
٩١٨٤ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فَشَرِّدْ بِهِمْ مَنْ خَلْفَهُمْ يَقُولُ: عظ بهم.
