levels: among them is the believing emigrant who has separated from his people by emigration, having gone out to a people of believers in their homes, estates, and wealth.

His saying: "And those who gave shelter and aided"

9186 - And by the same chain from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And those who gave shelter and aided," he said: They gave shelter, aided, and declared what the people of emigration declared, and they unsheathed their swords against those who denied and rejected. These are two [types of] believers, whom Allah has made allies of one another.

His saying: "Those are allies of one another"

9187 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "Those are allies of one another," meaning: in inheritance. Allah granted inheritance to the Emigrants (Muhajirun) and the Helpers (Ansar) to the exclusion of [other] relatives.

His saying: "And those who believed and did not emigrate"

9188 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman informed us—in what he wrote to me—Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying: "And those who believed and did not emigrate," he said: These are the Bedouins.

9189 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd ibn 'Atiyyah informed us—in what he wrote to me—my father narrated to us, my uncle narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding "And those who believed and did not emigrate," he said: They would inherit from one another when a believing emigrant died, by virtue of the alliance in religion. The one who believed but did not emigrate would not inherit because he did not emigrate and did not provide aid.

9190 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr ibn Sulayman al-San'ani narrated to us in Jerusalem, Abu Sa'id 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Abd Allah al-Basri (the freed slave of Banu Hashim) narrated to us, 'Umar ibn Farrukh narrated to us, Habib ibn al-Zubayr narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah regarding the saying of Allah the Exalted: "And those who believed and did not emigrate," he said: A while passed where the Bedouin would not inherit from the Emigrant, nor would the Emigrant inherit from the Bedouin, until Mecca was conquered and people entered the religion in multitudes. Then Allah the Exalted revealed: "But those of [blood] relationship are more entitled to one another in the Book of Allah."
