His saying, Exalted is He: "And establish prayer"

9275 - My father narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, al-Walid narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Namir narrated to us, he said: I asked al-Zuhri about the saying of Allah "establish prayer." He said: Establishing it is to perform the five daily prayers at their prescribed times.

His saying, Exalted is He: "Prayer"

10000 - (*) 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Mubarak ibn Fadalah narrated to us from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "establish prayer," he said: It is an obligatory duty; deeds are of no benefit except with it, and with Zakah. It was also narrated from Qatadah similar to that.

• I read to Muhammad ibn al-Fadl, Muhammad ibn 'Ali narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muzahim narrated to us from Bukayr ibn Ma'ruf from Muqatil ibn Hayyan regarding His saying to the People of the Scripture: "establish prayer," He commanded them to pray with the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

His saying, Exalted is He: "And give zakah"

[The First Aspect]

• My father narrated to us, Abu Salih narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah from Ibn 'Abbas: "And give zakah," he means by Zakah: obedience to Allah and sincerity.

The Second Aspect:

• 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu Bakr and 'Uthman narrated to us, my father Shaybah informed us, they both said: Waki' narrated to us from Abu Janab from 'Ikrimah from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And give zakah," he said: What makes Zakah obligatory? He said: Two hundred [dirhams] and above.

• Muhammad ibn Hammad al-Tehrani Abu 'Abd Allah narrated to us, Hafs ibn 'Umar al-'Adani narrated to us, al-Hakam ibn Aban narrated to us from 'Ikrimah: "And give zakah," he said: Zakah on wealth; from every two hundred dirhams, five dirhams.

The Third Aspect:

10081 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Jarir narrated to us from Abu Hayyan al-Taymi from al-Harith al-'Ukli regarding His saying: "And establish prayer and give zakah," he said: Sadaqat al-Fitr (the charity of breaking the fast).
