10203 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr Zunayj narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "And await for you misfortunes," meaning: from charity or expenditure in the way of Allah; upon them will be a misfortune of evil.

10204 - 'Abd Allah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to us, 'Amir ibn al-Furat narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us from al-Suddi, regarding his saying: "And among the bedouins are those who take what they spend as a loss and await for you misfortunes," meaning: he considers what he spends in the way of Allah as a penalty he pays, and he awaits for Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—destruction.

His saying the Exalted: "And Allah is Hearing, Knowing."

10205 - Muhammad ibn al-'Abbas narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Amr narrated to us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: "Hearing, Knowing," meaning: Hearing of what they say, Knowing of what they conceal.

His saying the Exalted: "And among the bedouins are those who believe in Allah and the Last Day."

10206 - al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Hatim narrated to us, Hajjaj narrated to us from Ibn Jurayj from Mujahid: "And among the bedouins are those who believe in Allah and the Last Day," they are the Banu Muqarrin of the Muzaynah tribe.

10207 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Isma'il ibn Abi Dirar narrated to us, Abu Tumaylah narrated to us from al-Husayn ibn Waqid from Yazid al-Nahwi from 'Ikrimah and al-Hasan regarding the saying of Allah in [Surah] Bara'ah: "The bedouins are stronger in disbelief and hypocrisy and more likely not to know the limits of what Allah has revealed to His Messenger. And Allah is Knowing, Wise." He then made an exception and said: "But among the bedouins are those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and take what they spend as means of nearness to Allah and the prayers of the Messenger," until His saying: "Forgiving, Merciful."

His saying the Exalted: "And take what they spend as means of nearness to Allah."

10208 - My father narrated to us, Abu Salih, the scribe of al-Layth, narrated to us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih narrated to us from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding his saying: "And take what they spend as means of nearness to Allah and the prayers of the Messenger," meaning the seeking of forgiveness by the Messenger—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—for them.

10209 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas al-Narsi narrated to us, Yazid narrated to us from Sa'id from Qatadah, regarding his saying: "And take what they spend as means of nearness to Allah and the prayers of the Messenger," [meaning] the supplication of the Messenger—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
