10300 - Hammad ibn al-Hasan ibn 'Anbasah narrated to us, Abu Dawud narrated to us, Qays narrated to us from 'Uthman ibn al-Mughirah from a freed slave of Abu Musa, from Abu Musa, that he was asked about the saying of the Exalted: "And the first forerunners from the Muhajirin and the Ansar." He said: They are those who prayed toward the two qiblahs with the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
10301 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu al-Jumahir narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Bashir narrated to us, Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah narrated to us from Qatadah, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, regarding his saying: "And the first forerunners from the Muhajirin and the Ansar." He said: They are those who prayed toward both qiblahs, and they are the people of Badr. It has also been narrated from al-Sha'bi in one of the reports, and from al-Hasan, Ibn Sirin, and Qatadah: That they are those who prayed the two qiblahs with the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace.

10302 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Musaddad narrated to us, Yahya al-Qattan narrated to us from Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid from 'Amir: "And the first forerunners," [they are] those who attained the Pledge of Ridwan. It was also narrated from Ibn Sirin: the same as that.
His saying the Exalted: "And those who followed them with good conduct."

10303 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us from Sufyan from Qays—meaning: Ibn Muslim—from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, he said: People were on three levels: The first Muhajirin, and those who followed them with good conduct, and those who came after them saying: "Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith." So the best we can be is to be in this [third] level.
10304 - My father narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Hamzah ibn Isma'il narrated to us, Ishaq ibn Sulayman narrated to us, Abu Sinan—meaning: Ibn Sinan al-Shaybani—narrated to us from Ibn 'Abbas, he said: A man came to him and mentioned some of the Companions of Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and he was pleased with them, [or] as if he was disparaging some of them. Ibn 'Abbas said: "And the first forerunners from the Muhajirin and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct," as for you, you have not followed them with good conduct.
