10427 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj told us, Abu Khalid al-Ahmar and Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Harithi told us, from Hajjaj, from 'Atiyyah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "In the bounty of Allah and His mercy," he said: "The bounty of Allah and His mercy is that He made you among the people of the Quran."

The second aspect:

10428 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "Say, 'In the bounty of Allah and His mercy,'" he said: "His bounty is Islam, and His mercy is the Quran."

10429 - It was narrated from al-Husayn, Hilal ibn Yasaf, Zayd ibn Aslam, Qatadah, and 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam similarly. And it was narrated from Abu al-'Aliyah, Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd, al-Dahhak, and al-Rabi' ibn Anas, they said: "Islam and the Quran."

The third aspect:

10430 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj told us, he said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd ibn Aslam saying regarding the saying of Allah: "Say, 'In the bounty of Allah and His mercy,'" he said: "My father used to say: His bounty is the Quran, and His mercy is Islam."

His saying, the Exalted: "So let them rejoice in that."

10431 - My father told us, Sa'id ibn Sulayman al-Wasiti told us, Ibn al-Mubarak told us, from al-Ajlah, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abza, from his father, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I have been commanded to recite the Quran to you." Ubayy said: "Did He name me to you?" He said: "Yes." He said: So he recited: "Say, 'In the bounty of Allah and His mercy, so let them rejoice in that.'"

10432 - My father told us, Ahmad ibn Jamil al-Marwazi told us, Ibn al-Mubarak told us, Sharik told us, from Abu Ma'shar, from Muhammad ibn Ka'b, regarding: "Say, 'In the bounty of Allah and His mercy, so let them rejoice in that,'" he said: "If you perform a good deed, you praise Allah for it, so rejoice; for it is better than what you gather of the world."

And my father told me, Qutaybah ibn Sa'id told us, al-Wasm ibn Jamil told us, from Abu Suhayl—meaning Kathir ibn Ziyad—from al-Hasan, regarding the saying of Allah: "So let them rejoice in that": "With Islam and the Quran." And it was narrated from al-Qasim ibn Abi Bazzah, he said: "With the Quran."
