His saying, the Exalted: "So know that it was sent down by the knowledge of Allah, and that there is no deity except Him."
10733 - My father told us, Minjab ibn al-Harith told us, Bishr ibn ‘Umarah reported to us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn ‘Abbas regarding "there is no deity except Allah," he said: It is tawhid (monotheism).
10734 - ‘Umar ibn Yahya told us, Abu Ghassan told us, Salamah told us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said regarding "there is no deity except Him," he said: There is no partner with Him in His command.
His saying, the Exalted: "So, are you Muslims [submitting to Him]?"
10735 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa’ told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "So, are you Muslims?" [Directed] to the companions of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
His saying, the Exalted: "Whoever desires the life of this world and its adornments."
10736 - My father told us, Musa ibn Isma‘il told us, Hammad ibn Salamah told us, from Qatadah, from Anas ibn Malik regarding His saying: "Whoever desires the life of this world and its adornments, We will fully repay them for their deeds therein," he said: It was revealed concerning the Jews and the Christians.
10737 - Al-‘Abbas ibn al-Walid ibn Zayd informed us by way of reading, Ibn Shu‘ayb informed me, Shayban ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman informed me, from Mansur that he narrated to them, then said: I asked Sa‘id ibn Jubayr about this verse in the saying of Allah the Exalted: "Whoever desires the life of this world and its adornments," he said: It is the man who performs the deeds of the world without intending Allah by them. It is like the verse in [Surat] al-Rum: "And whatever you give for interest to increase within the wealth of people will not increase with Allah."
10738 - My father told us, Mahmud ibn Khalid al-Dimashqi told us, my father told us, ‘Isa ibn al-Musayyab told us, from Jabir ibn Yazid al-Ju‘fi, from ‘Abd Allah ibn Ma‘bad, who said: A man stood up before ‘Ali and said: Inform us about this verse: "Whoever desires the life of this world and its adornments" up to His saying: "and useless is what they were doing." He said to him: Yes, woe to you, that is the one who desires the world and does not desire the Hereafter.
10739 - Muhammad ibn Sa‘d al-‘Awfi informed me in what he wrote to me, my father told me, ‘Ammi told us, my father told us, from his father, from Ibn ‘Abbas, regarding His saying: "Whoever desires the life of this world and its adornments, We will fully repay"
