His saying, the Exalted: "And indeed your promise is the truth, and You are the most just of judges."
10923 - Abu Yazid al-Qaratisi informed us, in what he wrote to me, Asbagh ibn al-Faraj said: I heard 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Zayd saying regarding the saying of Allah: "And You are the most just of judges," he said: In truth.
His saying, the Exalted: "He said, 'O Noah, indeed he is not of your family.'"
[The first interpretation]
10924 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' told us, 'Abd al-Razzaq al-Thawri told us, from Abu 'Amir al-Hamadhani, from al-Dahhak ibn Muzahim, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding his saying: "He is not of your family," [meaning]: If he were of your family, I would have saved him for you as I saved you, but he was one whose deed was other than righteous.
10925 - Ahmad ibn al-Azhar informed me, in what he wrote to me, Wahb ibn Jarir told us, my father told us, from 'Ali ibn al-Hakam, from al-Dahhak: "Indeed he is not of your family," he says: He is not of your family, nor your son, nor of your religion, nor of those I promised you that I would save from your family.
The second interpretation:
10926 - My father told us, 'Umar ibn 'Awn told us, Hushaym told us, from 'Awn and Mansur, from al-Hasan regarding His saying: "Indeed he is not of your family," he said: He was not his son.
His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed he is a deed other than righteous."
[The first interpretation]
Whoever reads it as 'Amal ghayr salih' (a deed other than righteous):
10927 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' told me, 'Abd al-Razzaq told us, Ma'mar told us, from Qatadah and others, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas, meaning "a deed other than righteous," he said: He is his son, except that he opposed him in deed and intention.
'Ikrimah said: In some of the recitations: "Indeed he is a deed other than righteous," he said: And betrayal can occur in other than a door.
10928 - Abu al-Fadl ibn Islam told us, Yahya ibn Sa'id told us, Ya'qub ibn Qays told me, he said: I heard Sa'id ibn Jubayr recite this letter as a verse: "'Amal ghayr salih" (a deed other than righteous), he said: The disobedience of the Prophet of Allah, and he is [attributed] to his mother.
