It was in the dead of night, and it [the destruction] occurred, such that they could even hear the sound of the birds in the sky. Then it was overturned upon them; whoever was struck by the overthrow perished, and whoever went out from it, I followed him wherever he was, and it killed him.

11084 - My father told us, Hisham ibn Khalid told us, Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq told us, Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah told us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: “in a portion of the night,” meaning: with a segment of the night, meaning darkness.
11085 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn al-Hisinjani told us, Sa'id ibn Abi Maryam told us, al-Mufaddal ibn Fadalah told us, from Abu Sakhr regarding His saying: “So set out with your family in a portion of the night,” he said: The early dawn.
