His saying, the Exalted: "Layered [mandud]."

11105 - My father told us, Hisham ibn Khalid told us, Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq told us, Sa'id ibn Abi 'Arubah told us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Layered."

11106 - My father told me, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, known as al-Dashtaki, told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far told us, from his father, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas regarding His saying: "Layered," [meaning]: Some of it has been layered upon some.

His saying, the Exalted: "Marked by your Lord."

11107 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Marked," he says: Designated.

11108 - Abu Zur'ah told us, Minjab ibn al-Harith told us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah told us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Marked," he said: The marking is a whiteness mixed with redness.

11109 - My father told us, Hisham ibn Khalid told us, Shu'ayb ibn Ishaq told us, Sa'id told us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Marked," someone who saw them told me that they are stones ringed with a trace of redness, not like these stones of yours.

11110 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan told us, Abu al-Jumahir told us, Sa'id ibn Qays told us, from Qatadah regarding His saying: "Marked," meaning: ringed with black and red by your Lord.

11111 - My father told us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman al-Sa'di told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far told us, from his father, from al-Rabi': "Marked," upon them is the mark of stripes.

11112 - My father told us, Abu 'Umayr ibn al-Nahhas told us, Damrah told us, from Ibn Shawdhab, from Matar regarding His saying: "Marked by your Lord," [meaning]: circled with redness.

His saying, the Exalted: "And it is not far from the wrongdoers."

11113 - Hajjaj ibn Hamzah told us, Shababah told us, Warqa' told us, from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid regarding His saying: "And it is not far from the wrongdoers," he said: It serves as a warning for Quraysh.
