[The First Interpretation]
11263 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And establish prayer at the two ends of the day," he says: The Maghrib prayer and the morning (ghadah) prayer.
11264 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj told us, Abu 'Abd al-Rahman al-Harithi told us, from Qurrah ibn Khalid, from al-Hasan regarding "Establish prayer at the two ends of the day," he said: The morning (ghada'), the noon (zuhr), and the afternoon (asr). It was also narrated from Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi similarly to the saying of al-Hasan.
His saying: "And in the approach of the night."
11265 - Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Yazid al-Muqri' told us, Sufyan told us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Yazid heard Ibn 'Abbas encouraging the delaying of the 'Isha' prayer, and he would recite: "And in the approach of the night."
11266 - My father told us, Abu Salih told us, Mu'awiyah ibn Salih told me, from 'Ali ibn Abi Talhah, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And in the approach of the night," he says: The prayer of standing at night (qiyam).
11267 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj told us, Ibn 'Ulayyah told us, from Abu Raja', from al-Hasan regarding "And in the approach of the night," he said: They are two approaches; the Maghrib prayer and the 'Isha' prayer. It was also narrated from Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi similarly to the saying of al-Hasan.
The Second Interpretation:
11268 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashajj told us, Abu Nu'aym told us, from Sufyan, from Mansur, from Mujahid regarding "Establish prayer at the two ends of the day," he said: The dawn (fajr) prayer and the 'Isha' prayer.
His saying, the Exalted: "Indeed, good deeds remove evil deeds."
11269 - Ahmad ibn Sinan told us, Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan told us, from Abu 'Uthman al-Nahdi, from 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud that a man said: He obtained a kiss from a woman, so he came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and asked him about its expiation. He said: Then it was revealed: "Establish prayer at the two ends of the day and in the approach of the night." He said: O Messenger of Allah, is this for me? He said: For whoever performs it from my nation."
